Join VARSA for a free community screening of Screenagers: Under the Influence. The 3rd documentary in the Screenagers series, this film provides a concise – yet comprehensive and engaging – look at the impact of alcohol, marijuana, vaping, and other substances on adolescent health today. This is not an alarmist “Phones Are Bad” film. Instead, it provides insight into what is available to teens online and the impact digital media has on teens’ decision making in regards to drugs, alcohol, and vaping.
This one-hour film is packed with up-to-date information that is accurate and comes from authoritative sources. Young people today have more access to information than any previous generation. This can have an impact on them finding their place in the world, their relationships, and their physical and mental health. Screenagers is a documentary that puts you in their shoes. The film provides information that is at the crossroads of media consumption and youth substance-use awareness in this ever-changing world of new media. Where the information is great for all community members 11 years of age and up, it will give parents, caregivers, and those who work with youth, insight into the world they are encountering.
Screenagers: Under the Influence will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with VARSA’s Suzan McMann and Peggy Rubens-Ellis, PSESD’s Mandi Wilcox, and others.
Please join VARSA at the Vashon Theatre on February 6 from 6-8 pm. This is a free event, part of the GreenTech Nights at the Vashon Theatre, so no tickets are necessary for this event.
Thank you, Vashon Theatre!
